Welcome to Hamingja's Notes

Within Hamingja Notes it's quite simple. I have a website for my Readings. I have facebook (and likely soon Twitter) for my updates. And I now have my blog for detailed updates, articles, information. Those FAQ's of being a Reader, about common thoughts as a Reader and within Ethics.

Have fun, get stuck in with talking and commenting and giving your own input - anything goes in a world of Spirituality!

Palovana and Itse

"Palovana" is the Finnish word meaning "inner flame". The inner flame is something which inspires us all as people and motivates us to move, think, feel, take action and to find energy. The idea of an inner flame or inner fire, is something which most of us can connect to meaning that of motivation and influence, though there are still many other questions which can come with that.

What exactly is an inner flame
Can an inner flame extinguish
If it can, can I re-ignite

All which we do and desire is connected to the inner flame. This is the soul light inside ourselves that will burn on and bring us with great hopes and desires to achieve and accomplish in life. All beliefs connecting to "making your own future" and in "all of life is in your hands" in one way or another, can be brought back to the source of the inner flame. This is that most precious thing which you can hold in life.

Can it burn out? Have you ever heard of suicide, of Depression? Essentially to say a severe level of lacking in terms of motivation can be examples of the flame burning out. Everything in this Earth needs fuel, needs oxygen and needs care to keep it alive and growing - this is the same principle. Like all things there are stages and levels;

~ inner fire: passionate, driven and ambitious people. Never stop and at times can be more obnoxious or aggressively assertive. Powerful people who will not take "no" as an answer (but not think twice about giving "No" out!)

~ inner flame: introverts, passionate though often more shy and hesitant. These people have dreams and are inspired by thoughts and hopes alone. It is enough to think and take action every so often. They are balanced. At times they can be more in range to set themselves up for let downs and willing to be knocked back.

~ (no flame): lacks in motivation, has no ambition, no drive and little-to-no desire. Generally the cynical side of life is their belief. Often those who are suicidal. In this events have knocked them back so often that it kills off ambition and dreams.

In short, you can re-ignite or simmer down and control the balance of your own inner flame. Though this can be achieved in an endless variety of ways, this is would be a little unrealistically extensive to follow through. The most popular of ways to quickly show example would be:

~ meditation
~ practising mantras
~ tapping into creativity and expresion

Interestingly in Finnish Paganism, the soul was believed to be something in parts and made up of aspects in life - rather than being a singular Spiritual entity. One of these parts that made the soul up was indeed "personality" and though I've seen a few similar names to label it, I will choose to go with "itse" (generally known as "the Self" or "Personality") as it was known as.

Itse was believed to be a Shadow-Soul; which is a factor of being parallel to the Self though a different being entirely. It was also regarded to be a type of "etiƤinen" (explained below). A mirror, if you will, and clone.

They also believed that with this - the Soul (being separate and not the substance of life itself) could leave the body and travel around (often when the person slept) and then return later on. Indeed it was known and almost a common thing for in Shamanism for them to travel off into Spirit Worlds and return with exchanged wisdoms and teachings.

A Shaman is something which was a Calling and a gift given in life not a choice that was actively made (a great honour to achieve this). They trained and dedicated their lives and when it came to such matters of Itse, they were called upon. Things such as spasms and unconsciousness were believed to be the Soul wondering off and so a Shaman would be summoned to bring the Soul back and guide it back to the person in question. A Shaman would do this by sending a travelling Spirit to the Otherworld's was known as "etiƤinen".

Inner Flames have been linked with Itse in many forms and one example is that the Soul of a person was made up of parts. Of the Palovana, of Itse and even Henki (loosely known as Stamina). Without Henki a person would die as this was the true power of life. In a low source of Henki, the inner flame would not last long after.
It is all connected: Personalty, Stamina, Inner Flames. Itse was known for being surrounded in fire as the personality of a human, when thought about, can change greatly within the alteration of their motivation, ambitions and goals in life (Palovana). Balance is the best to draw out the most in everything.

Tarot and 3rd Parties

Although perhaps not the best way to start a blog; it's a topic and issue that I have been faced with so often and indeed had to go over several times today alone!

One of the most commonly asked things are to look into other people's lives and I often find myself having to swerve the question away from this. I, along with many others, will not do a Reading which means snooping into someone else's life and in return I am often confronted with the question "why?"

Assuming that this is not a satisfactory answer to say "It's in the Code of Ethics" as it doesn't in itself explain my belief in not doing, allow me to answer by asking a question to you;

You have things in your life which you keep from your loved one. Now, don't argue, everyone has their secrets which they wish to keep that way. How would it feel to not only have someone try to force out secrets that you find important to never share but that it was by someone you love and trust? To feel, in return, that you are not trusted enough to be asked by them? This is something which is an issue of communication and not something I wish to get in the middle of.

However my biggest reason is rather different.

Looking at Tarot for a second and what it does along with psychic ability and impressions. The most nutshell way to explain how tarot cards draws an answer for the Querrent (person to who is receiving the Reading and asking questions) is that the cards and the Tarot Reader will look to the energy and the imprints your energy gives -a topic that's popped up a lot around me recently.

Consider you want something badly. That man with the dark hair and muscular figure, that lady with the perfect curls and most killer look; your body gives that energy of want, which is easy to misconstrue as what you will receive. If you are greatly worrying that someone does not love you and want to know how they feel in the most deepest of ways - again it's easy for a Reader to pick up on what you are hoping and wanting. It's very difficult to pinpoint the true energy source and it's not feasible, in so many ways, to pick up on the energy of one person, through another. In short, it's easy not only for you to be told something that is in truth a hope that you have - but that other Readers would also pick up on this hope, simply because you were initially told that this is true (in gaining excitement your energy will tend to be more stronger).

Impossible? Well that is something up for debate. Some people will claim it's not possible and that the energy flow is directly 100% the Querrents, others will disagree with that and claim that their bodies and energy contain the future and can link to people around them. I have not stated my own beliefs purposely as I do not feel it really matters. What does matter is this: are you willing to spend time, money and effort in receiving a tarot Reading to risk being told what you are wanting (or fearing) to hear, rather than the truth? Are you sure that it doesn't make a bolder statement about your relationship and it's communication-levels to you? Have you received a good Reading which fills you with hope rather than empowering you? A Reading should be based around you so that you can see where you can control things in your life, how you can push yourself forwards and see where you are (potentially) going. Asking about someone else would not give you this, but rather a helpless sense of expectation.

Either way, for better or for worse, despite anything in terms of beliefs and debates Readers might have; I am most certainly not willing to have someone pay me to risk giving them fancy or fear. I expect of myself as a Reader what I would hope and expect of a Reader if I was the Querrent - the truth, honesty and all options left open to me.

If you go to a Reader be aware that it surrounds you and yourself in order to make the most of your Reading (so that you can truly take the reign in your life) and remember: though restrictions may appear draining at times, through EU laws and Ethics - they are there for a very good reason. If you aren't sure what that fantastic reason is and interested in a Reader - then perfect! It's the perfect opportunity to message them, speak to them and see what you make of them as a Reader as well as learn why they go by a Practise Standard. This means, you will very quickly learn if you find them someone you want a Reading from and if you want to continue a buy a Reading! It's always delightful to build some level of establishment and communication before having a Reading to make yourself nice and comfy!

Tarot Readings can be fun as well as insightful - but remember to be safe and careful when it comes to a Reading and choosing your questions!

The First Post!

I am not a fan of getting started on things like these (as it's always painfully obvious that I have no clue what I'm doing!) In the blog either way; I hope to be:

  • giving information on tarot, runes and oracles
  • going over some sense of beliefs and little articles and such
  • debating (most likely with no one more than myself) spirituality vs parapsychology
  • updates of course on my website!
now there's an html button here, which I see is there but I will leave for now. Soon I will have this blogger thing mastered!
